This paper deals with the conceptualization of progressiveness in housing and shows applied cases in the 5th region in Chile. From these cases the following conclusion are drown: self-construction must correspond to a self-constructible design where the user's intervention does not harm the house's quality and where the user inhibits its intervention. Initiatives if the building perimeter is rigid.
