Abstract

The origins, purposes and activities of the World Organization for Early Childhood Education, a non-governmental organization (NGO), exclusively dedicated to the wellbeing and development of children under the age of eight years throughout all continents, are described in this article. The actions of the Chilean Committee, which integrates the world organization since 1957, and identifies itself by those values and purposes, are emphasized. The Chilean Committee has been supporting the Chilean Early Childhood Education in our country mainly through intellectual collaborations (among them seminars, conventions, counseling, publications, and information) and volunteer professional work of its members.
